... positano ...
Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 5:17PM For our 1st wedding anniversary, we took a short trip to Positano on the Italian Amalfi coast. Three nights and four days later, we came away having had way too many lemon granitas, countless parma ham and fig salads, amazing local fish and lots of photographs of a truly special place. From the minute we landed, the landscape takes your breath away - the onimous Mount Vesivius, the vertigo-inducing roads, the lemon and lime trees just about everywhere, street stalls selling granitas, dried chillis and limoncello, and the super yachts moored just off the coast, teasing you with their secret glamour. We even got to witness a real mountain fire high up in the cliffs above Positano - a ginormous fire which took days to put out with water bearing planes and helicopters. The real jewel in the crown was a trip to Ravello - a tiny village high up above the town of Amalfi, with a truly spectacular view of the coastline from the gardens of Villa Rufolo.
